I have sold paintings on the street and in small events. I have sold in renown galleries and elegant exhibition halls. I have failed many times and kept trying. After thirty-seven years of attempting to convey one, small, crisp visual idea, I feel I may finally be able to speak this language we call painting. TCT

The renowned artist Charles Banks Wilson, as presenting judge of a recent show said of Tim's Canning Pears, "I have been to most art museums in America and Europe, many of them, several times. This is not only the best painting in this show, but the best I have ever seen."
In first grade, Tim made pictures like you did. Soon, teachers were asking him to make posters for them. This got him out of doing yucky stuff so he never quit. When he wasn't playing football, baseball, tennis or a dozen other sports, he was painting from age 14. It was then he accepted his first commission. (The client bought his art supplies and his first real canvas.) By age 16 his work was consigned to art galleries. At age 20 his work was in galleries in Scottsdale and Dallas. Attending college on a baseball scholarship, Tyler found his greater opportunities lay in fine art. The staff of the college bought one of his paintings for the school president his freshman year.
The elegance and skill of the old masters inspires Tim's work. He visits art museums regularly and reads voraciously. He's studied with many respected artist/teachers. In Santa Fe and Scottsdale he contacted and sought advice from respected professional painters who all told him: "work from life".
He has traveled from California to Maine and to Europe teaching workshops, attending his exhibits and painting landscapes. Often one of his children would go along with him. "Artists visit national parks and museums as part of the job. Sharing this with my kids couldn't have hurt their upbringing." They've seen most art museums in the US.
He has shown in over 40 galleries in 34 states. In 1993, signature membership was bestowed to him by the founder of the Oil Painters of America. He exhibited in an unprecedented, 7 consecutive national OPA shows. He teaches approximately 8 workshops at art clubs across the US and at least one in Europe, annually.
He was generously given advice from established artists throughout his youth. He now teaches live workshops, DVDs and through magazine articles. He has participated in Salon International, OPA national exhibits, and ARC Salon, winning 5 awards in 2005 alone. "The Deconstructionist" was the first painting by a living artist to break into the top ten lists on Art Renewal Center at number nine. (The Last Supper was number ten that month.) The Oklahoma State Capitol has commissioned 7 pieces of his work.
He is presently writing his big book, working on a new figure instructional DVD in high-definition and preparing for one man shows. He lives in beautiful northwest Arkansas where he STILL gets out of doing yucky stuff.
