"Dear Oscar, thank you bringing your work here, I do appreciate it and it was wonderful meeting you, too. It is not often I get to put a face and personality with the art. I love both of the pieces; I keep walking out of the dining area and returning just for the sensation of seeing Solo Aquí actually on our wall. Cabo D'Armas I may end up getting framed, as you said, to set it off. Right now I'm enjoying it as I first fell for it. I was like a kid in a candy store. Again, thank you for your time and talent, and also for making it possible for me to obtain two wonderful pieces. You are very kind." ~Martha Selby, NC

Biography
BIOGRAPHY::
Oscar Ortiz was born in Manhattan, New York, USA in 1964. Whether at home or abroad he drinks fresh brewed black coffee at 3 PM or so as his favorite method of staying rooted with his Puerto Rican upbringing. He is still dating his High School sweat heart after 24 years of marriage. His favorite escapee is plopping a mattress in the middle of the living room and lying down with his family to watch dollar rented DVD's. As a person, Oscar holds an unblemished record of imperfection. A half way done canvas makes it all better.
ARTIST STATEMENT::
"What to paint? I'm not sure, but I feel like doing something colorful, beautiful, and interesting… eye catching. It has to make me smile. It has to challenge me."
I can say with total honesty that that's exactly what crosses my mind every time I stare at a blank canvas.
No set rules. No profound messages.With some exceptions.
It has work for almost a decade now.
Why change it?
