Biography
MELINDA GIRON
Born and raised on the south coast of Sydney, Australia surrounded by the Royal National Park, Melinda developed an early fascination for all things natural, and with a family background rooted in the arts, it allowed her creativity to flourish. She married and moved to the U.S in 1993 and has made her home in Pensacola, FL for over the last ten years.
Having been educated as a commercial florist, gave her exposure to hands-on creativity which has led to the reoccurring subjects found in her body of work. Melinda's artistic style came about by being self-taught as well as having taken fine art instruction focusing on acrylics, watercolours and oils. By experimenting with various techniques and styles, she uses bold colours and varying textures found in nature, and expressively conveys this in her paintings. These elements are what captivate and inspire Melinda's work and is the reason why she chooses to paint primarily in oil.
The use of other mediums, in a non-traditional style, is a fluid way for Melinda to add variety to her artwork and to harness interest and bring balance that detailed realism calls for, which in return adds growth to her personal style.
A rich legacy of artists also continues to inspire Melinda's work:
