EUROPE BECKONS FOR GIFTED ARTIST
"A gifted Lewis portrait artist is looking forward to displaying some of her pastels at leading European exhibitions in 2008. She has won two prestigious awards in the process. After attending a three-day international pastels conference hosted by the Pastel Society of France, she collected her second major tribute in the space of a few months. In July, the former Glasgow School of Art student was named the Society for All Artists' amateur artist of the year. She has since been awarded a Prize of Honour during the French pastel society's first international conference, in Paris."

Story Behind the Picture - August 2 2007
"IT'S LIKE going into another world; you go into a creative flow and lose time, it's pure joy," explained local artist Margaret Ferguson, who recently clinched the title of Amateur Artist of the Year in The Society for all Artists (SAA) Artist of the Year competition 2007. The international contest this year attracted over 4,000 entries from across the world, yet it was Margaret's work – entitled Kathleen – which caught the judge's keen eye. Held in Oxfordshire, Art in Action saw the final 35 paintings displayed and enjoyed by over 10,000 visitors"
