Welcome to my portfolio. Open the thick album of my life. Each memory is a painting. I have tried to capture the fleeting beauty of golden moments and heavenly places with my brushes and oils. As my mind travels again through these landscapes, come with me and enjoy God's Creation.
To paint... to travel... to combine the two... is to celebrate life. (Jack R. Brouwer)
Biography
BIOGRAPHY As an artist, Ines was fortunate to grow up in the South of France, in a family of writers, musicians and artists, and in the shadow of the great French Masters of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. She studied Fine Arts and Decorative Arts at the Academie Charpentier in Paris, where she received a strict classical education, which later proved to be a solid foundation for her present style. After years of experimentation, soul-searching and development, her realistic style has taken a looser, more spontaneous impressionistic quality. She is a colorist and a lover of light. Her greatest inspirations have been Monet, Chagall, and contemporary Russian Impressionists. Ines eventually moved to the United States, where she received a BFA in Environmental Design at California College of Arts and Crafts, combining her love of Art with that of Design. Married and raising a family, she worked free-lance in the field of Design, her goal being to instill beauty as well as function into our environment, be it architectural, interior, landscaping, etc… She is now retired from a career in Church Interior Design. Through it all, she continued to paint in various mediums, but she now paints almost exclusively in oils. On dark winter days, she can be found in her studio, but she's most comfortable painting "en Plein Air". Over the years, her work has won many awards and can be seen in collections around the US, Mexico and France. ARTIST'S STATEMENT I love the American Pacific Northwest in which I live. I wish to express the soul of its waterfalls, mountain peaks, forests, beaches and clouds through my choice of colors and brushstrokes. My style is impressionistic and painterly. My paintbrushes speak different messages depending on the mood of the scene, as well as on my own mood: sometimes restful and serene in color and rendering, sometimes bright, energetic, uninhibited and almost flamboyant. Either way, I wish to express my unbridled enthusiasm for this piece of heaven on earth. I also enjoy reliving happy times spent in other places around the world by painting from memory or from my pictures.
