The Artist Says:

I strive to achieve realistic art that conveys human emotion through the face and figure. My major goal in creating a portrait is to capture the subject's personality and essence on paper.

Dealers Say:

Holly's drawings go well beyond the pictorial. Through her thoughtful designs and her great facility in color pencil media she articulates an image of personal meaning.
- Robert Bendt, Curator, Blanche Ames National Juried Art Exhibition

Holly Bedrosian's A New Day has the stillness of an Edward Hopper painting. In this colored pencil drawing the artist focuses on the light that enters a room as a woman pulls back the curtain, illuminating her.
- Rachel Rosenfield Lafo, Director of Curatorial Affairs, DeCordova museum and Sculpture Park, Lincoln, MA

Other Artists Say:

Holly's portraits are beautifully rendered and show real compassion.
- Sheona Hamilton-Grant, Artist

Biography

Born in 1975, Holly Bedrosian is a self-taught artist who has had a fascination with drawing faces from a young age, when she began creating portraits of family and friends. Though she continued to sketch throughout college, Holly elected to focus her studies on the sciences, completing a bachelor's degree in physics from the College of the Holy Cross in 1997. She went on to work as an engineer for the next ten years, but the desire to pursue her interest in the arts was always present. In March of 2007, she changed careers to become a self-employed artist. Since taking the plunge to pursue her dream, she has never looked back. With a keen eye for subtleties in faces, Holly focuses on realistic portraiture and figurative fine art, and believes that capturing the subject's personality and character is of utmost importance.

Artist's Statement

In every ink blot and cloud I see a face, and faces themselves are a source of unending fascination to me. I appreciate the intricate nature of the complex contours that comprise the face, but most of all I am passionate about how the parts come together as a whole to create a personality, character, and evoke the essence of the subject. Whether creating a portrait, figure, or still life, I work in a realistic style to capture the subtle details that lend character and personality to the subjects.
