Biography
Cynthia Underwood, grew up in Oklahoma City and currently makes her home in Colorado and Arizona. She spends a considerable amount of time painting landscapes in Colorado and the Southwestern United States. Encouraged by her father; also an artist, at an early age she showed artistic talent winning numerous awards in local and regional drawing competitions. However, Cynthia did not start painting until almost 40 years later. She currently paints in three mediums pastel, oil and mixed media.
Recent National recognition was attained with two paintings being accepted in the 2011 prestigious "Paint the Parks Top Mini 50" Competition, Mockingbird Nest painted in 2011 and Splash painted plein air at Point Reyes Seashore 2010. Because it was her deceased fathers dream to gain entry into "Paint the Parks", the recent acceptance of her works into this prestigious competition is very special to the artist. She has also been selected to be published in Best of Worldwide Charcoal, Pastel & Pencil Artist, Vol. II, along with being selected as one of the Cover Artist. Her work can be found in The National Botanical Society, Red Cliff Winery, Nationally known celebrities homes as well as numerous corporate and private collections throughout the country.
